Trying to Crawl

Even though Preston is creeping up on 8 months, he still hasn't started crawling. Which is quite alright by me. The poor little guy is just too big for his legs to hold himself up. He has gotten down the rolling really good though.

This is as close as it gets for him. Because of this movement that he has learned, Preston keeps getting little rug burns on his face.

Preston started doing this while we were visiting my parents. It was fun to spend time with them. Preston was really starting to get attached to them. I wish that we could go see them more often.

Potty Training??

Poor little Preston makes this face when he is trying to go to the bathroom. While I was at my parent's house my sister-in-law told me that I should put him on the toilet when he makes that face. So I tried it. The first time I tried I ripped his pants and diaper off so fast that I scared him, so he wouldn't go. The next time I caught him making 'the face' I rushed him to the toilet, and we had success! While I was at my parents he went quite a few times on the toilet. So when I am trying to really get him potty trained I can show him pictures of him on the toilet at the age of 7 months.

First Haircut

Preston has needed a haircut for a long time, but I have been putting it off. I didn't want to cut off his 5 baby hairs that he had left.

You can see how long his baby hairs were. And look right above his right ear, he really needed a haircut.

{Aren't his rolls so cute?!}
Preston actually did really good. Whenever I do his hair I give him a comb to play with, you can see part of the comb in the corner. Don't mind his boogery nose.

His toes were exposed, so naturally he goes for them.

The final product. What a cutie!

'Dadda'

I have to say that I was just as excited for Preston to say 'dadda' as I was for him to say 'mamma'. Preston started saying 'dadda' when he was 6 1/2 months old. I love watching Blake with Preston, he is such a good daddy. And you can see that Preston loves his daddy.

Christmas 2008

This year Christmas was amazing! Preston wasn't quiet old enough to understand what was going on, but to be a parent during the season was wonderful. I loved the feeling on Christmas morning, and I am sure that every year will just get better.

We started out by celebrating Christmas eve with Bryan , Leti, Kristi, Jeff, and Lori. We ate and played games. Christmas morning we opened gifts at our house. As you can see Preston got a sock monkey, which he had been playing with weeks before, and a portable dvd player for the car {which has already come in handy}. What did our parents do without them? Blake got me an orbital sander- lots of brownie points- and the Willow tree nativity, which I love. Blake got a cheese slicer. Odd? Yes, I know, but if you ever come to my house the one thing that we for sure have in the fridge is mozzarella cheese, especially for Blake. He can't live without it (so he says). Blake also got a new pair of shoes. He has needed shoes for so long, not because he has been eyeing them down or anything, but because he had worn holes in them!!!

After we opened gifts we went over to Bryan and Leticia's house. It was fun to watch how excited Bryan and Leticia were to have grand kids for Christmas. Then we had the traditional Harris Christmas breakfast. Usually we all go to Grandma and Grandpa Harris' house, but this year everyone came to our house. That was so fun to be able to host such an event.

'Mamma'

So everyone that has kids has told me that 6 months is a magical age. I don't think that I believed them until all of these developments started happening. But I have to say that the one that really melted my heart was when Preston started saying 'mamma'. How pathetic am I? He didn't even know what he was saying, but still!

New Discovery.... Toes!

As you can see, Preston has found his toes. With his mouth that is. It is amazing to me that with how big he is that he can still manage to get his toes in his mouth. Preston started doing this when he was 6 months old, and whenever he gets fussy I take off his socks and let him play with his feet and he is very content. What a little weirdo! :)

Sitting Up

At 5 1/2 months old, Preston started sitting up without assistance. It is amazing to me how fast things happen. Just one day he was sitting up on his own.

Happy Birthday Tahlia!

December 22 was Tahlia's first birthday. The night of her birthday was a big snow storm, definitely making it an evening to remember.

As you can see, Tahlia enjoyed her cupcake.

This is the gift that Preston gave Tahlia. This will make for great blackmail when he is older. :)
