Cousins

Preston is so lucky to have 5 cousins born within a year of him. So far there are two girl cousins and one boy. The other two are due the middle of Oct. and the end of March. This is a picture of Mary and I with our babies. Elise is so tiny! She is so cute. The kiddos are only two months apart, but as you can see Preston is a little big for his age. He looks so much bigger next to her.
I love this picture because of Preston's look on his face. He isn't quite sure what to think of the situation.
Here you can get a better idea of the size difference. Preston is so lucky to have so many close cousins, hopefully they will be friends and get along together.

Three Months Old

On Saturday Preston turned 3 months old. It is amazing how fast he has grown. Blake and I are so fortunate to have him in our life. Everyday I thank Heavenly Father for what a wonderful blessing he is in our life. He brings so much joy to us. As you can see from the picture, he loves his binky! He has just started grabbing things and making a connection to his mouth. It is so funny to watch him go cross eyed as the item gets closer to his face. What a cutie!
He is such a happy baby. Blake can really get him laughing, it is so fun to hear.
I had to show these pictures so that you can see how chubby he has gotten. He is definitely healthy!
This picture is in the hospital, right after he was born. The nurse had to weigh him twice because the first time the scale said 7.8 lbs. And the nurse said, "That cannot be right." Sure enough, it wasn't.

Friday Night Lights

Sugar had their homecoming last week and we were able to go. There is just something about being at a football game that brings memories back from high school. Though it wasn't quite the same without a hot dog. Ha ha. Everyone keeps saying that Preston is going to be a football player because he is so big, and I have to say that I think that he enjoyed himself. He did get a little scared when the fireworks went off, but we will have to work on that.

Another Project

I have been working on the project for some time now, so I am happy to have it done. I started out with frames from the dollar store, spray painted them, glued in the glass, and got the vinyl and pictures. I had to post so many pictures because my hall is a little too narrow to get one good shot.

Crafting

I saw this idea on HGTV -my favorite channel- and wanted to make some for my kitchen. It was pretty easy. I mixed concrete into an old bucket and put these twigs in it. After it was dried I cut the buckets off of them. That was a little difficult, but with some creativity I was able to get them off. Then I put some little puck lights in the middle for a little mood lighting.

Rolling Hills Classic

Somehow I got talked into running a 5K. Crazy... yes I know. When I commited to doing this I thought to myself, 'Rhonda, this is good. It will make you start working out again on a regular basis.' Well that lasted for two weeks, and then life happened. So the two weeks before I had gone on a few walks, but not any training. The day before Lisa Cutler (the one who talked me into this) and I ran the course. I was unaware that the name of the 5K was 'Rolling hills Classic'. Those rolling hills included the one going up to the temple from the middle school! But neither of us died and we ended up running 12 1/2 minute miles! Just getting started and still wearing a smile.
On the home stretch... down the hill. The guy right behind Lisa is about to lap us, he ran the 10 K.
Here I am trying to catch my breath from sprinting the last 150 yards.

This is a picture of how happy we were that the race was over.
Lisa and I with our babies.
Leticia also ran, and she is amazing. She is 50 years old and kick my trash.

My mom happed to be in town and was able to come and watch me finish. It looks like Preston had a good time too.

Preston and Blake

Sunday mornings have to be at the top of my favorite list. This year we don't have church until 1 o'clock, so most of the time we sleep in and spend majority of the morning playing with Preston. I love watching Blake be a dad. I am so lucky to have such a great husband! Blake is always willing to help me, and he is so good with Preston. Here are a few pictures of Preston and Blake.

Fun with Grandma and Grandpa

I have to say that I am greatful that we live close to Blake's family, though I do wish the distance to my parents house was shorter. Growing up I wasn't able to get to know my grandparents all that well, so I would like to have our child, and our future children, have a close relationship with their grandparents. Preston really enjoys Grandma Leti. She is always singing to him and it just calms him. As you can see he is VERY relaxed. Whenever Grandpa Bryan is around Preston likes to talk, baby talk anyway. When I was pregnant and Bryan would talk, Preston would do somersaults!

In these pictures Leticia was holding Preston so that I could inhale my dinner because Preston was hungry. You can see just how hungry Preston was... he is trying to eat Grandma's cheek!

New Developments

To catch up on Preston, he is 14 lbs 3 oz and 23 inches. He started smiling at 5 weeks, around the 5th of August, and he started laughing at 8 weeks, the 22nd of August. And just today, Sept. 9th, he rolled over, at 10 1/2 weeks! He has also started babbling a lot. It is fun to talk with him. It has been so much fun to watch Preston develop and grow. He has made a new discovery... his hands. I love it when I can hear him sucking on them! He has also started drooling a lot. I am just starting to notice that his hands aren't clenched all the time also.

He has lots of fun with his mommy and daddy!

Bag Tag

Lori, my sister-in -law, has bag tagged me! You post a picture of your bag and it's contents.
So here is a picture of items in my bag.My wallet, diapers, wipes, change of clothes for Preston, extra pacifier, lip gloss, calculator, lotion, monkey toy, tape measure, hand sanitizer, fingernail clippers, and a tide pen.
Here is my bag that doubles as a diaper bag *ShopKo special*.
I tag Lisa Cutler and Ashley.

Three Fingers

Growing up my dad would always take us on these CRAZY outings to Succor Creek that lasted ALL day and always had the same result... driving in the middle of NO WHERE just to come home and milk cows and change the water. Now that I am a little older I have come to appreciate those crazy trips and I asked my dad if we could do that while we were visiting this past weekend. The plan was to try and find this old horse trap, but we were unsuccessful and settled for hiking this rock called 'three fingers'. From our house it looks like a top hat, because you can only see the side of it, but this is the real view and how it gets it's name. Grandma and Grandpa kept the two babes, Preston and Keegan. The rest of us hiked to the top. About half way to three fingers we saw a huge mountain sheep.

This is what three fingers looks like from our house. Quite deceiving.

This is the view from the top of three fingers. You can see that we are literally in the middle of no where.

It is amazing how beautiful dirt, rocks, and cheat grass can be.

Here is an example of the hike up the first finger. Lots of rocks, and yes we are crazy, and we took a 3 and 4 year old up with us, but they had a great time.

Here is Sterling, my brother, his wife and kids, Lisa, Trey, and Chase at the top with Owen, my brother, and his wife Emily. You can see that Trey is holding a can, it is filled with notepads to sign your name.
We tried to find our names in it from our last trip up there, but couldn't find it.

Blake and I at the top.

Blake told me that I shouldn't go, I was thought it was because he didn't want me to go 'rock climbing', but come to find out it was because he didn't want to go and have me saying that I did it and he didn't.

Here is a fun rock that looks like a tea pot.

I think that Preston had a great time, sleeping through the whole adventure. Thanks Mom and Dad for the trip, we had a great time!

Elise Catherine Johnston

My brother Ellis and his wife Mary had their baby on September 2 at 9:03 am.
Her stats are: 6 lbs 1 oz, 20".
Mom and baby are doing well.
Isn't she beautiful?!
Congratulations Ellis and Mary!
